The Top 10 StartCHURCH Blogs of 2013

By Raul Rivera

2013 was quite a year for the church and the law. Many new laws came to bear upon the church, laws that raised significant questions about what pastors and ministry leaders should do in response to those changes. It was those very types of questions that created such value in The Advisor, StartCHURCH’s weekly E-blast. The Advisor emails, which go out to over 48,000 on a weekly basis, have helped church leaders learn to navigate the current legal landscape.

In 2013, the most read blogs often had to do with pastors learning to successfully interact with the law. Blogs like Housing Allowance Ruled Unconstitutional” and “3 Laws Your Church Needs to Know” helped ministers understand the new law changes and how they affect their ministries. We also put out a blog “3 Documents Board Members Must Sign” alerting church leaders of the legal forms needed for their board members. Another popular topic was pastors and ministry leaders desiring to better understand their personal responsibility for their ministries. Blogs like “Minister Ordered to Pay for Church Errors” and “How the Bylaws Exonerated One Pastor” educated pastors on steps they can take to protect themselves. As the year went on, we felt honored to be able to bring more clarity and confidence to pastors who have been called to lead in this shifting legal time.

Below is the list of the Top 10 Blogs of 2013.
